Knife Sharpening Services FAQ

Please reach us at contact@knivesbesharp.com, or ask our AI Chatbot, "Shar-pAI the Robo Shar-Pei" to contact them for you if you cannot find an answer to your question.  He's in the bottom right corner.

A knife is a thin slab of steel with a sharp edge that cuts things.

Yes, we offer professional knife sharpening services for all types of knives.  We sharpen with a portable electric belt sharpener or with manual sharpening stones by request.

As Sharp Sesh is an in-person meeting where knives are made sharp.  We know we can just say appointment, but we're really trying to make Sharp Sesh happen.

We do not have a physical retail location, but do on-site sharpening service.   We also offer Pick-Up and Drop-Off service at no extra charge.

After picking up, knifes should be sharpened and returned within 1-3 days.  Be sure to ask when getting them picked up and we should have a clearer picture.

The life of your knife edge can vary do to several factors, including but not limited to:

  • Steel Hardness
  • Steel Quality
  • Heavy Usage
  • Improper usage
  • Not using a cutting board
  • Scraping or twisting blade on the board
  • Cutting through harder materials or foods, bones, etc.
  • DISHWASHER (DO NOT PUT YOUR KNIVES IN THE DISHWASHER)

With light daily usage, proper care and upkeep, a quality knife can last from weeks to months.  Improper care can dull your knife after a few uses.

That all depends on care and usage.  You can use a honing steel or leather strop to help maintain the edge and keep it from rolling over, just ask our associate about that in person.  For an average home cook, we'd recommend getting a Sharp Sesh ahead of big holidays or birthdays throughout the year where you'd do the largest batches of cooking for the year.

(i.e.4th of July BBQ, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Shar-pAI the Robo Pup's Birthday, etc.)

From a technical standpoint, more expensive knives will generally be able to hold sharper angles for longer periods of time.  Many are hand forged in a little mountainside huts in Japan for hours upon hours with beautiful, elegant Damascus patterns.   Gorgeous, hand-crafted knife handles with expensive woods and polished rare earth minerals are attached to the blades.   A true work of art, a masterpiece even.

A cheap Dexter-Russel or Mercer knife with a plastic handle will do every single thing that knife does.

Because they're cool.
